IT Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)

83zero have partnered with a world-class KYC team. They are looking to bring in an IT Infrastructure Engineer, specialising in Linux environments. You'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing their mission-critical infrastructure for leading financial institutions across the UK and EU. This is a customer-facing position requiring technical expertise, a passion for automation, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Linux Administration: Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers (physical and virtual) to ensure high availability and security.
  • Database Administration: Manage, monitor, and optimize databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar) within Linux environments.
  • Networking: Design, implement, and troubleshoot network solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and secure connectivity for financial clients.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts and automation tools (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.) to streamline operations and improve system reliability.
  • Customer Communication: Serve as a technical point of contact for end customers, providing clear, professional support and guidance.
  • Documentation: Produce high-quality technical documentation, runbooks, and customer-facing materials.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with global teams in security, development, and customer success to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Incident Response: Participate in on-call rotation and respond to infrastructure incidents as needed.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in Linux system administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, or similar).
  • Strong background in database administration (installation, tuning, backup/recovery).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls) in Linux environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience supporting external customers.
  • Ability to document technical processes and communicate complex topics clearly.
  • Experience working in regulated or financial environments is a plus.
