About the Role
Are you a detail-driven procurement professional ready to take the next step in your career?
We're looking for an organised and proactive Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team in Desford.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you'll support the Category Buyer and wider team across sourcing, cost analysis, and supplier management. You'll also play a key role in the rollout of our new purchasing system, PROcure - a great opportunity to get involved in system transformation from day one.
What You'll Do
- Support the Category Buyer with supplier quotations, cost analysis, and sourcing decisions
- Manage the Resource Programme: collecting data, managing quotes, and preparing summaries for decision-making
- Handle vendor onboarding and maintain accurate supplier information
- Process pricing updates, cost changes, and compliance documentation
- Work within Teamcenter and related systems to support NPI programmes and prototype part sourcing
- Assist with audit preparation and documentation for internal and external reviews
- Provide backup support to the Legacy/Service Buyer as needed
Tools & Systems
You'll gain exposure to a range of procurement and business systems, including:
Microsoft Office Suite, Teamcenter, SAP, Power BI, PROcure, Glovia, STMS, Finance@Work, CICT, EPIX, CPI/BIQ, Supplier Connect, Lognet
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years' experience in purchasing, procurement, or assistant buyer roles (manufacturing preferred)
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- A data-driven mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator who thrives in a team but can work independently
- Understanding of end-to-end procurement processes
- CIPS qualification or equivalent (advantageous but not essential)
