AI Transformation Director (Contract)

Location: London (Remote / Hybrid)

Rate: £750 per day (Outside IR35)

Contract Length: 6-12 months

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced AI Transformation Director to lead enterprise-level initiatives that embed artificial intelligence and automation across key business functions. You'll shape the AI strategy, oversee implementation, and ensure measurable value delivery through innovation, efficiency, and intelligent insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an AI transformation roadmap aligned with business strategy.
• Identify and prioritise high-value AI opportunities across multiple departments.
• Oversee design, build, and deployment of AI and data-driven solutions.
• Partner with senior leadership to drive cultural and operational adoption of AI.
• Establish governance frameworks ensuring ethical, secure, and compliant AI usage.
• Manage cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, and business analysts.
• Track performance metrics and ensure real-world ROI on AI investments.

Essential Experience

• Proven track record of delivering AI or digital transformation programmes at enterprise scale.
• Strong understanding of AI technologies, automation, machine learning, and data platforms.
• Strategic leadership experience within complex, matrixed organisations.
• Ability to translate technical potential into clear business outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at C-suite level.

Desirable

• Experience with cloud-based AI ecosystems (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations in AI adoption.
• Background in consulting or leading transformation within FTSE 250 / large enterprise settings.
