Database Administrator (DBA)
£55,000 - £65,000 + £5,300 car allowance + 10% Bonus + 10% Pension
Base Location - Reading - (Some travel to UK customer sites and working from office/home locations as appropriate.)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the leading Global IT Consultancies / System Integrators. This will be the opportunity to be a key player within their Business & Platform Solutions division, where their pinpoint focus is on understanding our clients’ business industries and technologies.
Our client is growing the capabilities of its UK Centre of Excellence to work with their clients on the digital transformation journey. This role will involve a mixture of working from end client sites, UK Offices (Reading or London) and remote home working as required by the business. Regular travel to client sites anywhere within UK is expected. Flexible working arrangements will be available.
The Role:
- Working as part of the wider team to identify the appropriate database products and technologies to support customer and internal teams in meeting their outcomes
- Supporting the writing and providing input to bid proposals to design application solutions that will make the teams and customers successful
- Putting together delivery timescales implementation and cost estimates, based on proposed application architecture and risks
- Taking responsibility for database architecture, for new applications that are being developed
- Participating in internal database technical communities
Essential Skills:
- Experience working with multiple products and languages to deliver databases
- Ability to make appropriate technology decisions to best suit the application requirements
- Demonstrable experience in reviewing current database architectures and able to identify ways that new technologies can replace or augment, that can be delivered without impacting the legacy system
- Strong skills in SQL for writing performant queries
- Solid experience with database technologies (e.g. MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cloud native databases)
- Ability to gain SC level security clearance checks
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable Skills:
- Background in Agile/DevOps delivery in a scaled environment
- Knowledge of data modelling
- Good understanding of data warehousing, mining and ETL
- Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
- Relevant industry certifications
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
- Experience with automation and scripting technologies (e.g. bash, python, powershell)
- Experience with cloud services (e.g. AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
