Job Title: Design Engineer - Air and Fuel Systems

Duration: 12 month assignment (likely to extend)

Salary: £34 - £36 per hour

At our Peterborough site, we lead the engineering, marketing, sales, and manufacturing of industrial engines up to 7 litres. These engines serve a wide variety of applications and are known for their performance, quality, and reliability. The Opportunity

As a Design Engineer in the Component Engineering department, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable air and fuel system components - from concept through to production. This hands-on role provides the opportunity to lead design projects, work with a cross-functional team, and collaborate globally to deliver world-class products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver component development projects within time, cost, and quality targets
  • Lead and participate in design reviews to gain business support and approval
  • Develop specifications and collaborate with suppliers to ensure robust design and delivery
  • Conduct FMEA assessments and coordinate simulation and validation (DVP&R) activities
  • Investigate technical issues using 8D problem-solving methods
  • Understand customer requirements and translate them into effective design solutions
  • Prepare and review technical documentation to support production release
  • Engage with global teams to implement solutions at manufacturing facilities
  • Promote continuous improvement using Lean principles

What You'll Need to Succeed

Required:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 6-8 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Proficient in CAD (ideally Creo) and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter)
  • Experience designing powertrain and/or engine components

Desirable:

  • Experience with fuel systems, air systems, EGR systems, or turbochargers
  • Familiarity with APQP, FMEA, and DVP&R processes
  • Background in the off-highway diesel engine sector
  • Experience in simulation and test-based component development
