This role focuses on building cloud-based digital preservation solutions that support long-term access to valuable research data across Europe.
About the Role
You'll be part of a collaborative, multi-organisation effort to develop tools and services that ensure the integrity, accessibility, and preservation of research outputs. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement SaaS solutions for digital preservation.
- Develop and integrate software services into a large-scale research infrastructure.
- Implement support for project-specific specifications, protocols, and data transformation.
- Contribute to a registry of digital preservation tools and services.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to validate and refine solutions.
- Advance standards and protocols for long-term digital preservation.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or both.
- Experience with cloud-hosted software and REST APIs.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization.
- Strong skills in data/metadata transformation using JSON and XML.
- Agile development experience and strong collaboration skills.
- 2-5 years of software development experience in a commercial or research setting.
- Degree-level education.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of digital preservation standards (e.g., OAIS, METS, PREMIS, OCFL).
- Experience in Research Data Management and FAIR principles.
- Understanding of Trusted Digital Repositories.
